Position available: Research Assistant/Postdoctoral fellow Nucleic Acid based Bioengineering Laboratory at HKUST is inviting research talents to apply for multiple positions at the level of Research Assistant or Postdoctoral Fellow to conduct R&D work to develop innovative molecular diagnostic technology and device for large-population screening and point of care testing. The position can start in April 2021, renewable annually for up to two to three years for highly satisfactory performers. You will be mainly responsible for: • Translating concepts into functional prototypes for molecular diagnostics: from creation of 2D and 3D CAD to manufacturing and testing. • Performing design engineering duties related to design, manufacturing, assembling, and testing. • Collaborating with Principal Investigator and postgraduate students to understand applications in the diagnostics field. • Interfacing with external partners to understand industry standards and practices. To succeed in this role, you should have the following background and skills: • STEM degree, preferably within electrical, mechanical, biomedical or design engineering. Degree from a local university preferred. • Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD. • Experience in designing, manufacturing (plastic or metal) and assembling mechanical and low- power electronic systems. • Strong capacity to learn and apply advanced knowledge. • Interested talents with experience in instrumentation, automation and data acquisition of the prototype are preferred. • Prior hands-on experience related to molecular biology, biomedical research, bioassays, and/or clinical samples are a plus.
