1. Principle Investigator: Dr. Adnan Ozden is currently an Assistant Professor of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering and serving as the Director of Electrochemical Systems Laboratory at Khalifa University. Dr. Ozden’s research focuses on innovative catalysis- and system-level approaches to producing sustainable chemicals and fuels using carbon emissions and renewable electricity as input. Dr. Ozden establishes his research at the interface of electrocatalysis, system-device integration, alternative energy- and carbon-efficient routes/systems, and scalable electrochemical system development.

2. Electrochemical Systems Laboratory: The Electrochemical Systems Laboratory at Khalifa University welcomes applications from candidates interested in energy and fluids, and particularly in electrochemical CO2 capture and conversion, reactive capture, and accelerated discovery. The Electrochemical Systems Laboratory is established with the state-of-the-art equipment required for materials synthesis and treatment, electrode preparation, electrochemical performance testing, and characterization. The candidate will be based at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and will have the opportunity to collaborate with other students and researchers within the Electrochemical Systems Laboratory.
3. Background and requirements: The ideal candidates are those with strong background and publication record on electrochemistry, materials synthesis, and electrochemical system development and testing, materials characterization for one or more of the following reactions: HER, OER, and CO2RR. Ideally, the candidates should be the last year PhD students (with the confirmed graduation by September 2026) and early career postdocs (within 4 years following their PhD). The successful candidates should have the ability to conduct the project independently while having the opportunity to collaborate with other researchers in the Electrochemical Systems Laboratory. The positions are initially for one-year. There is possibility of extending the position for further pending the progress and mutual agreements.
